From July 21 to 24 local time, at the invitation of President of the National Legislative Assembly (NLA) Pornpetch Wichitcholchai of Thailand, Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Yu Zhengsheng paid an official goodwill visit to Thailand and respectively met with the Representative of the King Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha, and President of the Privy Council Prem Tinsulanonda of Thailand in Bangkok. He also held talks with NLA President Pornpetch Wichitcholchai.
Yu Zhengsheng conveyed kind greetings from President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Keqiang, and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) Zhang Dejiang to King Bhumibol Adulyadej, Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn and government leaders of Thailand.
While meeting with Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, Yu Zhengsheng spoke highly of the significant role played by the Thai royal family, including Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn herself, in promoting the friendship between China and Thailand. Yu Zhengsheng said that the high-level exchanges of the two countries have always led the development of bilateral relations, and the practical cooperation deepens the basis of mutual benefit and win-win results, and the non-governmental exchanges consolidate the social foundation of bilateral friendship. China is willing to work with Thailand to foster understanding between the two countries, promote cooperation in various fields such as economy, society and culture, and consolidate the friendship of "China and Thailand as One Family".
Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn said that Thailand and China enjoy great people-to-people and cultural exchanges, help each other, and boast profound friendship, all of which are worth cherishing by the two countries. Thailand is willing to maintain close contacts with China and to make the two peoples be soul-to-soul and heart-to-heart friends with eternal friendship.
While meeting with Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha, Yu Zhengsheng said that over the 40 years since China and Thailand established the diplomatic relations, no matter how the international situation changes, the friendly relations between the two countries remained the same. Being good neighbors, good friends and good partners, the two countries understand each other, trust each other, and support each other all the time, and therefore have achieved solid political mutual trust, fruitful practical cooperation in various fields, and profound feelings between the two peoples. The two countries helped each other in coping with the Asian financial crisis and major natural disasters, bringing about the solider bilateral relations. China attaches great importance to the China-Thailand relations and is willing to make joint efforts with Thailand to actively implement the consensus reached by leaders of the two countries, advance the integration of the "Belt and Road" initiative and the transport infrastructure development strategy that Thailand is promoting, promote more fruits in such fields as railway, agricultural products trade, economy and trade, and financial cooperation, strengthen cooperation in law enforcement and security, deepen exchanges in science and technology, education, tourism and other fields, jointly facilitate the China-ASEAN strategic partnership, and drive the China-Thailand comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation for greater progress.
Prayuth Chan-ocha said that Thailand-China relations have a long history and the Thai people have profound feelings for China. Thailand speaks highly of the great achievements China has made through its reform and opening up, thanks China for its long-time support for Thailand, and is willing to keep sustained and stable development of Thailand-China relations, and promote the two countries' cooperation on economy and trade, infrastructure construction, agriculture, law enforcement security and people-to-people and cultural engagement, and jointly advance the friendly ASEAN-China relations.
During talks with Pornpetch Wichitcholchai, Yu Zhengsheng spoke highly of the achievements acquired through cooperation between the CPPCC and the NLA over the years. He said that the CPPCC is willing to strengthen exchanges with the NLA, promote bilateral exchanges and cooperation in various fields, and make active contributions to the development of China-Thailand relations.
Pornpetch Wichitcholchai said that the NLA supports the friendly cooperation between Thailand and China and is willing to have close communications with the CPPCC so as to jointly promote the bilateral relations to a new level.
During the meeting with Prem Tinsulanonda, Yu Zhengsheng spoke positively of the contributions made by Prem Tinsulanonda and the older generations of the Chinese leaders for China-Thailand friendship, and said that China will continue to work with Thailand to carry forward the traditional friendship and promote mutually beneficial cooperation.
Prem Tinsulanonda said that China has always been benevolent to regional states and vigorously helps the development of all countries, and that Thailand, as China's neighbor, has benefited a lot. Thailand cherishes the friendship between Thailand and China, and would like to be China's good friend forever.
Yu Zhengsheng visited the Thai-Chinese Rayong Industrial Zone and encouraged Chinese enterprises to seize the strategic opportunity of building the "Belt and Road" to play a positive role in promoting China-Thailand production capacity cooperation.
During his stay in Thailand, Yu Zhengsheng also visited Chiang Mai and met with its Governor Suriya Prasartbundit. He visited the Nong Hoi Royal Project Mountain Development Center, and said that the Chinese side will continue to participate in the project to bring wellbeing to the local people. When visiting Chongfha Sin SengSchool, Yu Zhengsheng encouraged the students to make contributions to China-Thailand friendship in the future.
