Xi Jinping Meets with President of Association of National Olympic Committees and Olympic Council of Asia Prince Ahmad al-Fahad al-Sabah

On August 22, 2015, President Xi Jinping met with President of the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) and the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) Prince Ahmad al-Fahad al-Sabah at the National Stadium.

Xi Jinping spoke positively of the long-term positive role of ANOC and OCA in promoting China's sports cause and appreciated that they devote to world peace and development through sports and have thus scored remarkable achievements.

Xi Jinping pointed out that Beijing was awarded the right to host the 2022 Winter Olympic Games, which will promote both China's sports, social and economic development as well as the development of World Olympic Movement, facilitate mutual learning between Chinese civilization and other civilizations and once again offer Chinese people an opportunity to contribute to Olympic Movement and the dissemination of Olympic spirit. Hangzhou of China has officially submitted an application to the OCA for hosting the 19th Asian Games. The Chinese government will go all out to support Hangzhou and believes that it is capable of hosting a successful Asian Games.

Ahmad al-Fahad al-Sabah congratulated Beijing on its successful bid for the 2022 Winter Olympic Games and becoming the first city hosting both Summer and Winter Olympic Games, and said that the OCA is willing to join efforts with China to ensure the success of the Games and promote sports development in the region.

Liu Yandong, Guo Jinlong, Yang Jiechi and others attended the meeting.
