Foreign Ministry Holds Grand Theme Activity "Commemoration of the 70th Anniversary of the Victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression"

On August 25, 2015, the Foreign Ministry held a grand theme activity titled "Remember the History, Cherish Peace and Create the Future" to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression. Approximately 700 people, including Foreign Minister Wang Yi, Secretary Zhang Yesui, representatives of the veterans of the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and representatives of the units within or affiliated to the Foreign Ministry and retired staff, attended the activity.

Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Secretary Zhang Yesui, on behalf of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Committee of the Foreign Ministry, first awarded Memorial Medals for War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression to 10 veteran representatives. Former Assistant Foreign Minister and Director of the Political Department Lin Zhong, aged 94, delivered a speech on behalf of those who were awarded the memorial medals.

Foreign Minister Wang Yi gave a ebullient speech. On behalf of the CPC Committee of the Foreign Ministry, he extended lofty esteem to 195 old cadres at the Foreign Ministry who once joined the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression. He called on all diplomatic personnel to rally closely around the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping as General Secretary vigorously promote the great spirit demonstrated during the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, draw nutrients and gather strength from revolutionaries of the older generation, and spare no effort to carry out the diplomatic work of the Commemoration on September 3, so as to satisfy the CPC and the people and make due contributions to the major-country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

Institutional chorus of the Foreign Ministry, soldiers of Chinese Armed Police Force positioned in the Ministry, chorus of old cadres and chorus of some departments and bureaus performed revolutionary songs such as "Unity Is Strength", "Dadao March" and "Ballad of the Yellow Waters".
