On the morning of September 4, 2015, Premier Li Keqiang met at the Great Hall of the People with President U Thein Sein of Myanmar, who was in China to attend the commemorations marking the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.

Li Keqiang said that I reached broad consensus with Mr. President on promoting bilateral relations and deepening comprehensive strategic cooperation when visiting Myanmar last November. New progress has been made in China-Myanmar relations over the past half year. China is willing to work with Myanmar to tightly keep to the development direction of the bilateral relations, strengthen good-neighborly and friendly relations, expand practical cooperation and enhance people-to-people and cultural exchanges. Both sides should also work together to maintain stability, tranquility and peace in the border regions and promote common development.

Li Keqiang pointed out that China is willing to accelerate cooperation with Myanmar in infrastructure construction and other fields, swiftly implement the Bangladesh-China-India-Myanmar Economic Corridor and other cooperative initiatives to further facilitate regional connectivity, and actively conduct production capacity cooperation to promote the cooperation level in the aspects such as agriculture, water conservancy, and post-disaster resettlement and reconstruction. He hoped that Myanmar will continue to play a constructive role in promoting the development of the China-ASEAN relations.

U Thein Sein thanked China for offering timely aid in Myanmar's fight against flood disasters, and expressed his hope that China will continue to help build water conservancy facilities in Myanmar. He said that Myanmar is willing to actively implement the important consensuses reached by both sides during Premier Li Keqiang's visit to Myanmar last year, enhance cooperation in infrastructure construction, accelerate cooperative projects of connectivity in highway and water transport, and increase people-to-people and cultural exchanges including youth, education and other aspects so as to promote the ever-lasting friendship between the two countries.
